However, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">the word <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">is actually defined as<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> bringing about new methods or solutions that have a positive impact or bring significant improvement. It\u2019s important to acknowledge that this can be of a practical nature. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">We simply ask that NextGen: HN practitioners consider the best methods for bringing improvement to learning, teaching and assessment for the qualifications being delivered in their centre. After discussion with colleagues across NextGen: HN centres, it\u2019s felt that the terms \u2018continuous development\u2019 or \u2018progressive practice\u2019 may better describe this idea.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">One practitioner described innovation as \u2018moving on from the current standpoint\u2019 and \u2018addressing challenges and development from where you are now&#8217;. Moreover, they were more comfortable with the concept of a \u2018creative learning, teaching and assessment approach that\u2019s adaptable across areas\u2019 than describing how their centre supports the development of practice as \u2018innovation\u2019.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Another practitioner promotes using the term \u2018learning design\u2019 as it acknowledges the process of planning and infers that mapping and due consideration has been given to impact and outcomes. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Using the term \u2018design\u2019 projects the level of consideration required to\u202fplan the delivery of good learning, teaching and assessment practice through envisioning a desired outcome and working towards it, continually refining the practical application of skills, knowledge, and available resources. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I believe that it&#8217;s not necessarily about having a wealth of resources but more about being inventive and creative. I also feel that it&#8217;s about encouraging learners to be more involved in the learning process through facilitation of activities that engage them or allow them to be co-creators of their own learning. \u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">I\u2019m reaching out to centres to capture the views and experiences of practitioners.
