Getting the latest units and frameworks

We get a lot of queries around this time of year about what units have changed over the last 12 months. We appreciate why you ask — it’s vital that you teach the right thing. Our advice is simple: download the latest version of every unit that you’re about to teach. You can download unit specifications on the SQA website — here for non-advanced and here for advanced. Simply search for each unit that you’re teaching and download the resulting PDF. That’s the best way, in my view, of being sure that you’re teaching the right version of the unit.

We maintain a list of changes to frameworks and units on the SQA website. You can see the changes to NQs here and the changes to HNs here. You can filter or search for specific words via those pages.

You might also want to visit the Computing sector page, which lists every qualification, level by level, with links to each qualification’s dedicated subject page.

If you’re in any doubt about the latest version of frameworks or units, please contact Aneta for non-advanced qualifications (NUs, NPAs, NCs) and contact Helen for advanced qualifications (HNCs, HNDs, PDAs).
