Further to the recent post about re-organising online groups, I’ve now set up two new groups — one for school teachers and one for college lecturers. You can join the school group here and join the college group here.

We decided at the recent team meeting that organising the groups around centre type made more sense (and was more manageable) than organising them around specific qualifications since it meant a much bigger group of people to provide peer support. It also means that you will be made aware of what’s going on in other centres.

Each group will provide support for all of the qualifications that, typically, are delivered in each type of centre. So, for example, the school group will cover National Units and NPAs; the college group will cover National Certificates and HNCs. Of course, there will be some overlap (PC Passport, for example, is widely taught in schools and colleges). In this circumstance, I would cross post on both groups. The new arrangement will be much more manageable for me and my team. Having lots of individual groups for different qualifications was becoming unmanageable.

Please join one of these groups if you want to keep up to date with developments and get help from your colleagues. I’m sure that they will become very useful sources of help in the coming years. Look out for news about a dedicated group for trainers in the near future.
