I’m pleased to let you know that the development of new National Units in Data Skills is now complete. Three new units will be available from 1 August.

1. Data Skills (SCQF Level 3)
2. Data Skills (SCQF Level 4/National 4)
3. Data Skills (SCQF Level 5/National 5).

The units focus on the key knowledge and skills needed to understand the data and statistics commonly used in the media and daily life. The motivation for the units came from Data Education in Colleges (which asked SQA to produce something in this area) and the pandemic. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of basic data skills. During the last two years, we’ve been bombarded with data, stats, graphs and charts — and it has shown that everyone needs to understand what it all means.

It’s taken longer than planned to finalise the units. The units will be published in the Summer but you can see final (uncoded) versions if you contact Megan.
