It was held in the beautiful Surgeon&#8217;s Hall Museum in Edinburgh. The event was opened by Polly Purvis, the CEO of Scotland IS.<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/DSC_0001-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2214\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/computing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/DSC_0001-1-300x198.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a>\n<p>The speakers (who included the Minister for Employability &amp; Training) were very good. They all emphasised the vital importance of digital skills to the Scottish economy. The following skills were highlighted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>software development<\/li>\n<li>cyber security<\/li>\n<li>data analytics<\/li>\n<li>artificial intelligence<\/li>\n<li>computational thinking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We have qualifications in all of these areas. We recently developed a suite of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/76243.html\">PDAs in Software Development<\/a> (in addition to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/25589.html\">existing HND<\/a>); our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/74738.html\">cyber security qualifications<\/a> are well known; we recently developed a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/78715.html\">HNC in Data Analytics<\/a>; and we&#8217;re currently devising an <a href=\"https:\/\/1drv.ms\/w\/s!Av71_tveB0_uhaAjDO08yHe_O8RORQ\">HN unit called Artificial Intelligence<\/a>. Computational thinking is <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/computing\/computational-thinking-guidance\/\">embedded in all of these awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I was delighted when one of the speakers praised SQA&#8217;s qualifications.
