{"id":257,"date":"2013-02-19T16:55:00","date_gmt":"2013-02-19T16:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sqablogs.lndo.site\/computing\/2013\/02\/19\/computer-basics-2\/"},"modified":"2013-02-19T16:55:00","modified_gmt":"2013-02-19T16:55:00","slug":"computer-basics-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/computing-digital\/computer-basics-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Computer Basics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve been working on a new introductory computing unit for <a href=\"http:\/\/sqacomputing.blogspot.co.uk\/2012\/02\/new-introduction-to-computers.html\">some time<\/a> now, and I am pleased to say that I carried out my final edits on it this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The unit has still to be validated but I don&#8217;t think much, if anything, will change so this version is pretty much the one you will see on the SQA website in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an interesting unit. It&#8217;s firmly aimed at beginners, and it&#8217;s very up-to-date, covering desktop PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones. It&#8217;s the first qualification to mention the Raspberry Pi.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the unit is to provide a modern, interesting and enjoyable introduction to computing in the 21st Century, covering essential skills and foundation knowledge.
