These new <\/span>NPAs<\/span> (National Progression Awards)<\/span> will be available to centres from the 1st of August and each award consists of 3 units which are –<\/p>\n

Information Literacy Skills<\/p>\n

This award will cover –<\/span><\/p>\n

NPA<\/span> in Internet Technology (SCQF<\/span> Level 4) (Outcomes)<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00b7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Identify key components, terms and issues associated with the use of on-line communications<\/p>\n

\u00b7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Locate information using basic Internet\/intranet facilities <\/p>\n

\u00b7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Use e-mail and on-line forms to communicate electronically<\/p>\n

\u00b7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Plan an information task<\/p>\n

\u00b7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Identify a range of information sources and use them to investigate a chosen information task<\/p>\n

\u00b7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Evaluate the selected information<\/p>\n

\u00b7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Review search results and suggest possible improvements<\/p>\n

\u00b7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Identify threats that exist when using the Internet<\/p>\n

\u00b7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Create a blog to perform a specific information task<\/p>\n

\u00b7 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Track selected blogs<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/span>The NPAs<\/span> will offer candidates a foundation into making safe and legal use of the Internet in carrying out the handling of information and research. <\/span>These awards will also introduce a range of Internet tools to access, retrieve and exchange information from the Internet or an intranet locating and using social software that promote interaction and collaboration through to reviewing and creating a weblog. <\/p>\n
