HNC Computer Games Development
The first meeting of the Qualification Development Team (QDT) for HNC Computer Games Development took place on Wednesday afternoon. QDTs consist of representatives of schools, colleges, universities and employers.
Computer games qualifications (which span NPA to HND) are very popular (the NPA is SQA’s most popular qualification of this type). The development of HNC is the first stage in modernising the HNC and the HND. Both qualifications will be “Next Gen” qualifications so are likely to, at least, look different from the current awards, and will be graded.
There was a good attendance at the meeting. The purpose of the first meeting is scene-setting so members were “talked at” for most of the time. But it was vital information about design principles, the development process, and the various roles involved in creating a new qualification. The next step is to select a lead developer, who will play a key role in creating the qualification.
We hope to develop the qualification over the next six months. It’s not too late to get involved so please contact Emma if you want to volunteer for the QDT or find out more about the qualification.
