{"id":1939,"date":"2016-07-20T11:28:41","date_gmt":"2016-07-20T10:28:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/computing\/?p=1939"},"modified":"2016-07-20T11:28:41","modified_gmt":"2016-07-20T10:28:41","slug":"sqa-and-police-scotland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/computing\/sqa-and-police-scotland\/","title":{"rendered":"SQA and Police Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I met with Willie Cravens, Head of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotland.police.uk\/\">Police Scotland&#8217;s<\/a> Cyber Crime Unit, yesterday to discuss how SQA and Police Scotland can work together to improve &#8220;cyber education&#8221;. In fact, SQA and Police Scotland have been working together for several years now. Our relationship started in 2007 when Strathclyde Police &#8220;adopted&#8221; the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/34586.html\">Internet Safety <\/a>unit for all new cadets. More recently, Police Scotland contributed to the creation of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/cybersecurity\/\">NPAs in Cyber Security<\/a>. The new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/75487.html\">Cyber Security Fundamentals award<\/a>\u00a0was expressly devised in response to a request from Police Scotland for a basic qualification in this area.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re proud of our record in this area. SQA was the first awarding body in the UK to have a qualification on Internet safety and the first in Europe to have one on cyber security. Both of those qualification have proven to be popular in Scottish schools and colleges. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/files\/nu\/H1F610.pdf\">Internet Safety<\/a> award has recently been updated to include the latest threats to online users.
