It contains detailed information about how the Government is seeking to protect young people when they are online. One of the (many) actions in the document is that school inspectors should consider this aspect of pupil behaviour when they visit schools.<\/p>\n<p>SQA has had a qualification (a National Unit entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/files\/nu\/H1F610.pdf\">Internet Safety<\/a>) in this area for some time time. It was recently updated to reflect the latest threats that face young people (including online learning material and assessments). We also, more recently, introduced a new, basic qualification on cyber security (another National Unit entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/files\/nu\/H9T544.pdf\">Cyber Security Fundamentals<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>To encourage uptake, SQA has packaged both of these units into a group award (entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/files_ccc\/SQA_Internet_Safety_Award_Web%20File.pdf\">Award in Internet Safety<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/75487.html\">Award in Cyber Security Fundamentals<\/a> respectively) so that learners receive a formal certificate upon completion. These awards are up-to-date, relevant and genuinely useful to learners so I hope that you consider offering them in your centre.
