The team would like to welcome you back for session 2020\/21. We’ve been busy during the summer with a number of developments.<\/p>\n
A new Professional Development Award in Cyber Resilience<\/strong> was recently made available to centres<\/a>. This suite of awards is available at SCQF Levels 7, 8 and 9. The finalisation of this qualification brings to an end a period of rapid development of cyber security qualifications that began in 2015 when NPA Cyber Security<\/strong> was introduced. There are now qualifications in cyber security spanning SCQF Levels 4 to 9. Contact Helen<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n We’ve also been finalising a Professional Development Award in Data Science<\/strong> (also available at SCQF Levels 7, 8 and 9), which was validated in June<\/a>. We’re putting the finishing touches to this new suite of awards right now. It will be available to centres from 1 September. Contact Emma<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n Computing is one of three subject areas chosen to prototype new types of Higher National qualifications<\/a>. Four existing qualifications are involved in this development: HNC Computing<\/strong>, HND Computer Science<\/strong>, HND Networking<\/strong> and HND Software Development<\/strong>. A brand new HND in Data Science<\/strong> is also part of this development. Prototypes qualifications will be available in August 2021. Contact Helen<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n To freshen-up current HN qualifications, we added some new units to existing frameworks and made combined assessments available to all centres<\/a> that we hope will come in useful during the new session. These assessments should reduce the time spent on assessment and are available on SOLAR now. Contact Helen<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n Thanks to Scottish Government funding, we’re producing teaching and learning materials for NPA Data Science<\/strong><\/a>. These are being produced by the University of Edinburgh and will cover the contents of the NPA at all three levels (SCQF Levels 4, 5 and 6). The material will be available in September. Contact Emma<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n Finally, we’ve commenced a review of NPA Computer Networks<\/a> to bring its contents up-to-date.
