<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Identifying <span>&nbsp;<\/span>opportunities for Scottish staff to attend key conferences<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Symbol\"><span>\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Allow access to free or discounted industry curriculum materials for both learners and teaching staff<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 36pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Symbol\"><span>\u00b7<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Provide added value support and communications about vendor activities for teaching staff<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">As we reviewed the programme <span>&nbsp;<\/span>with Colleges <span>&nbsp;<\/span>and vendors&nbsp; and relevant sector skills councils we identified a range of challenges that should be taken into account in any refreshed programme.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Symbol\"><span><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">The review exercise led to a set of 10 recommendations as follows:<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span><span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\"><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span><span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">1.<\/span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">Re-affirm and re-invigorate <b>the role of DIVA<\/b> as a strong vehicle for delivering SQA Corporate Business Plan 2009-2012 objectives and broader policy objectives.<\/span> <\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span><span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">2.<\/span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">Raise <b>the profile of DIVA<\/b> within SQA, in particular assign responsibility as an internal DIVA Champion to a senior level post within SQA with a cross-departmental remit.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span><span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">3.<\/span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">Create a process for regular strategic level <b>dialogue with DIVA vendor partners<\/b>.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span><span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">4.<\/span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">Review <b>the Lead Centre model<\/b> to encompass cross-sector and cross-regional Lead Centre Partnerships, leveraging the benefits of existing vendor\/education sector relationships.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span><span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">5.<\/span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">Expand<b> the range of DIVA partners<\/b> but review the <b>selection criteria<\/b> for which vendor developments to engage with, placing more emphasis on mapping to key industry trends and existing\/predicted demand to ensure take up by learners and relevance to employers.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span><span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">6.<\/span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">Focus on<b> mapping vendor certifications to awards<\/b> rather than creation of vendor specific units, but take into account good practice in relevant vendor developments when building new units.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span><span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">7.<\/span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Encourage vendors to submit their courseware and certifications for <b>SCQF credit rating.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span><span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">8.<\/span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">Explore how DIVA can help to deliver the objectives of the <b>Curriculum for Excellence<\/b> development work.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span><span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">9.<\/span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Address the sector requirements for stronger DIVA <b>communications, showcasing and peer-to-peer networking opportunities.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><span><span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">10.<\/span><span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\">Use greater <b>collaboration <\/b>to achieve DIVA goals and leverage the potential benefits of DIVA.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt;text-indent: -18pt\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Following the review we have spent the last six months working with Vendors to review and refresh our existing agreements.
