Blog posts here will keep you up-to-date on how we are engaging with Scotland\u2019s Digital Participation Charter, increasing skills levels through the\u00a0use of digital technologies in everyday learning, work and social activities.<\/p>\n<p>SQA&#8217;s staff completed an online survey to find out how competent they felt\u00a0using the systems and software in the organisation, as well as the technologies they use at home. \u00a0Not surprisingly for such a large organisation &#8211; we have around 700 staff across sites in Glasgow and Edinburgh &#8211; the survey responses showed that there are a range of perceived competence levels: from those who sometimes struggle with programs and devices to those who have accomplished digital skills. It was great to find out from the survey also that people were really keen to help others become\u00a0more confident using technology, both colleagues and in communities.<\/p>\n<p>Working with our\u00a0Occupational Development team the aim will be to\u00a0put\u00a0in\u00a0place\u00a0a training programme for staff that\u00a0helps\u00a0to\u00a0increase skills from basic to advanced levels \u2013 this could be using some of our own qualifications like NPA in Digital Passport; booking\u00a0a 1-2-1 session with a colleague who has expertise in using particular software; and\u00a0we are also devising some interactive support material and guides for our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqaacademy.org.uk\/\">SQA Academy<\/a> website.\u00a0 It\u2019s the intention to share these training methods and materials with the wider community through digital participation partners like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scvo.org.uk\/\">SCVO<\/a>.\u00a0 SQA is committed to volunteering opportunities through its Corporate Social Responsibility strategies and this aspect of the Charter is definitely one that we want to promote.<\/p>\n<p>There is a will for change and making better use of digital technologies and there are many challenges involved in making those changes, particularly in large organisations.\u00a0 But there are tremendous leaps being made by similar \u2018bureaucracies\u2019 who have embraced digital by default as the way forward. By continuing to share knowledge and participate for the right reasons \u2013 a more efficient, cost-effective and creative future for learners in Scotland\u00a0\u2013 we all need to\u00a0play a\u00a0part in the\u00a0digital journey.\u00a0 I hope you will follow and see how we <a href=\"http:\/\/www.letsgeton.scot\/\">get on<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to SQA\u2019s digital skills blog.
