You can find more information in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/qualifications2022\/sqa-national-qualifications-assessments-2021-22-a-message-for-parents-and-carers\/\">this blogpost<\/a>.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-739\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/qualifications2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2021\/12\/NQ2022AssessmentSummary2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"501\" height=\"377\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/nationalqualifications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2021\/12\/NQ2022AssessmentSummary2.jpg 501w, https:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/nationalqualifications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2021\/12\/NQ2022AssessmentSummary2-300x226.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 501px) 100vw, 501px\" \/>\n<h2><strong>How is SQA supporting learners with exams and assessments this year?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We have already made significant changes \u2013 referred to as modifications \u2013 to course assessments (exams and\/or coursework) to make them more manageable and allow for lost learning and teaching caused by the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the subject, the assessment modifications may include removing or reducing elements of an exam or coursework, providing more choice or time during an assessment or removing a topic from the exam.<\/p>\n<p>If your child has additional support needs, help is available for them during their exams. Please speak to your child\u2019s school or college for more information about the arrangements that they can put in place.<\/p>\n<p>As in previous years, services will\u202falso\u202fbe in place to support your child if they are unable to sit\u202ftheir\u202fexams due to unforeseen circumstances, such as\u00a0illness or bereavement,\u00a0or\u202fif they receive\u202fresults they were not expecting. We will provide more information on these services in the New Year to explain how they will work and what this means for your child.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What happens if the 2022 exams are cancelled?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Your child\u2019s teachers or lecturers are already gathering examples of the assessment work your child has been completing in each course and they will use this to determine their estimate grades.<\/p>\n<p>Should the Scottish Government cancel the exams due to public health restrictions, your child\u2019s teachers or lecturers will use this same evidence to determine a provisional result for each course.
