Elaine Snell and I were at the very enjoyable Scotland in Focus event organised by the ASLS\u00a0on Saturday November 7th, where an impressive group of speakers provided plenty of food for thought for teachers of Scottish Studies courses.<\/p>\n

Shortly afterwards we learned the welcome news that the Scottish government’s Minister for Scotland’s Languages, Dr Alasdair Allan,\u00a0had announced funding (\u00a340,000) for ASLS to support their resources and provision of CPD for teachers of\u00a0Scottish literature and Scottish Studies.<\/p>\n

On a more mundane note, from March 2016 we shall be carrying out visiting<\/em> verification<\/em> <\/strong>for Scottish Studies instead of central verification.\u00a0 We hope it will also provide more useful support for Centres.<\/p>\n

Finally, there are still places left for our Understanding Standards events on Wednesday January 27th in Glasgow so book now to make sure you have something to look forward to after the holidays!<\/p>\n
