{"id":216,"date":"2016-07-08T14:32:34","date_gmt":"2016-07-08T14:32:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/scottishstudies\/?p=216"},"modified":"2021-04-20T12:00:50","modified_gmt":"2021-04-20T11:00:50","slug":"scots-language-oor-wullies-bucket-trail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qualifications.gov.scot\/scottishstudies\/2016\/07\/08\/scots-language-oor-wullies-bucket-trail\/","title":{"rendered":"Scots Language &#8211; Oor Wullie&#8217;s Bucket Trail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Hello&#8230;a&#8217;m pleased tae meet ye!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m the new Qualifications Officer responsible for Scots language, with the very difficult task of following the one and only Malcolm Wilson in blogging about all things Scots.<\/p>\n<p>I thought I&#8217;d begin with a light hearted story &#8211; one which you may already be aware of, but worthy I felt of a post.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday Post perennial and Scots speaker Oor Wullie is celebrating 80 years of mischief this year and to mark the occasion his hame toon of Dundee has created Oor Wullie&#8217;s Bucket Trail.\u00a0 This is a\u00a0charity art project featuring over 50 Oor Wullie figures designed by local and international artists.<\/p>\n<p>The 5ft figures have been placed throughout Dundee and a trail has been published online, together with an app.<\/p>\n<p>The trail is taking place until 27 August, and during this time 10 additional figures will be\u00a0going on tour throughout\u00a0Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>On 13 September all of the figures will be auctioned, with proceeds going to the Archie Foundation&#8217;s Appeal, for a new twin operating theatre paediatric surgical suite for Tayside Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, an Education Programme has been created\u00a0to encourage children to learn different Scots words and phrases.\u00a0 The website has a resource\u00a0pack which includes activities that can be used in lesson plans, and tie in with the Curriculum for Excellence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello&#8230;a&#8217;m pleased tae meet ye!
