Due to changes to the unit, Accounting for Business: An Introduction (J56F 34 / J9CP 34) the Assessment Support Packs for Business: Graded Unit 1 (J5CS 34) have been updated. The change includes an alternative Accounting question in Section 2 to allow learners to respond to questions relating to the new content. Following HMRC’s decision to make Cash-Basis Accounting the default method for self-employed traders and partners, SQA has made a change to the HN Unit Business Taxation J0LY 35 to bring it into line. Consequently, the treatment of Capital Allowances has been moved from Outcome 1 (Sole Traders) to Outcome 3 (Corporation Tax). Happy New Year! NextGen HNC and HND Accounting were both successfully validated on 30 October 2024. Although these qualifications will continue to be piloted, the validation is a key milestone in their development. The qualifications were well received in the meeting and recognised as a big step forward for the subject area and our learners.
