Working with centres

Last Friday, we shot a promotional video showing how the team works with centres. Three centres were used as case studies: Kyle Academy which offers the NPA Cyber Security, Dundee & Angus College and its Code Academy, which uses various SQA awards, and Code Clan, which uses the new PDA in Software Development. These centres were selected as examples of Scottish centres delivering modern qualifications in innovative ways. The video will be available soon. Contact Emma if you want to know more about NPA…

Digital Volunteering

As signatories of the Scottish Government’s Digital Participation Charter, SQA have committed to helping people in Scotland who are not currently online. SQA have formed a partnership with the Wheatley Group, who also signed the Charter, to help provide digital skills and support to the Wheatley environmental and janitorial project staff, helping them to carry out work-related tasks such as filling in online timesheets and work logs or personal tasks such as emailing, banking or applying for jobs. SQA have gifted…

This won’t directly affect most people who work with us since it is mostly behind the scenes activities. But centres should see qualifications developed more quickly — 12 months at the maximum, even for major…

Digital Housing Showcase event

The digital housing showcase event was held at the Wheatley Academy premises in Glasgow on Wednesday 8th February. SQA were invited to participate by setting up a ‘stall’ in the main venue and also facilitating a group discussion forum during the event. Organised by the Wheatley Group and supported by SCVO, it was very well attended with representation from housing authorities from all over Scotland; numerous stalls were available from digital partners including Google Garage, DigiKnow, the Blackwood Group, Digi-Pal,…
