HNC/D Digital Design & Web Development

The validation event for the revised HNC/D Interactive Media took place in June and since then we’ve been addressing the conditions and recommendations. We’re just about there. The only task that remains is finalising the Graded Units.  As noted previously, the revised qualification has new titles: 1. HNC Digital Design & Web Development 2. Exam results day

Today is exam results day across Scotland. From my own perspective, I was delighted to see a huge rise (27%) in the number of pupils doing vocational qualifications. Vocational qualifications are the best route for many pupils and, in areas such as computing, can lead to secure, well paid jobs. Vocational qualifications can also motivate pupils who have lost interest in traditional academic subjects. Working with SQA

One of the unique characteristics of SQA is the way that we work with practitioners to develop qualifications. Although it’s mostly teachers and lecturers who develop the awards, we also like to work with people with no teaching experience but who have experience of other aspects of life (such as business or industry or the third sector). SVQ/CBQ Quality Networking Event

We are organising a SVQ/CBQ Quality Networking Event on Wednesday, 7 September. No change to groups

Forget the previous post. I misunderstood the proposed changes to Groupspaces – so we can continue as normal. The reason that I don’t just delete the original post is that the misunderstanding prompted me and my team to discuss the current groups, which was a useful discussion. So we plan to make some of the changes. The special purposes groups (Sector Panel, Qualification Support Team, etc.) will not change but we plan to roll-up the subject groups into more generic…
