Summer holidays

Many schools and colleges are finishing for the Summer around this time. Me and the team hope that you have a nice break. Although we will be taking some time off over July and August, most of us will be here most of the time, so you can still contact us. The Summer is a time when we can get a lot done and catch up with things. We’re currently finalising the Computer Refurbishment and Cyber Security awards, and carrying out…

Digital Passport online group

The NPAs in Digital Passport at SCQF levels 4, 5 and 6 will be available to all centres from August 2015. A web page for this qualification will be set up on the SQA website before August. I have created an online group for this qualification today. This public group is for centres who are delivering or interested in delivering the qualification. The group will provide peer support, group discussions, updates and useful information (e.g. Group Award Specification, updated FAQ,…

National Digital Conference

Yesterday I went to ND15 in London to listen to some of the UK’s most influential speakers discuss how to lead a digital nation.  The event is free to attend and attracts a cross-section of delegates from public, private and third sector organisations. Chaired by Mark Thompson, keynotes included Matthew Hancock, Minister for the Cabinet Office, Ed Vaizey, Minister of State for Culture and the Digital Economy, Baroness Martha Lane-Fox, co-founder of Lastminute.com and Helen Milner, CEO of Tinder Foundation. The conferences…

NPA Cyber Security validation event

The validation event for the NPAs in Cyber Security took place yesterday in Glasgow. I am delighted to report that the award was validated, subject to a couple of conditions and recommendations. The purpose of validation is for fresh eyes to check the proposed qualification. Members of the Validation Panel must have had no involvement in the qualification development. A validation event is a meeting of peers (it’s not an inspection of a proposed award) with the aim of making it…
